Dear friends, kind strangers, and compassionate souls,

My name is Gabriela, and together with my sister Corina, we are reaching out with open hearts to ask for your help. We both live far away from home so it is difficult to travel to Venezuela at this time. Corina lives in Argentina and I live in Australia.

Earlier this year, our family was struck by heartbreaking news. Our beloved father Luis Paez was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a progressive and incurable disease that slowly takes away his ability to move, speak, and eventually breathe. Around the same time, our mother Angela Allup was diagnosed with arteriosclerosis, a serious condition that affects her circulation and puts her at constant risk of complications with her heart.

They both live in Venezuela, where daily inflation makes even the most basic essentials — like medicine, food, and vitamins — almost impossible to afford. Each month, the cost of their treatment and care rises beyond our reach. We are doing everything we can to support them, but the reality is that we can’t do it alone.

That’s why we’ve created this GoFundMe. Our goal is to raise $18,000 to help cover:

Essential medications and vitamins

Doctors’ appointments and tests

Daily nutritional needs

A wheelchair for our father, as his mobility declines

Our parents are the most loving, humble, and resilient people we know. They dedicated their lives to raising us with warmth, kindness, and strength. Now, it’s our turn to care for them — and we need your help to do it.

Me llamo Gabriela y, junto con mi hermana Corina, les pedimos con todo el corazón su ayuda. Ambas vivimos lejos de casa, por lo que es difícil viajar a Venezuela en estos momentos. Corina vive en Argentina y yo en Australia.

A principios de este año, nuestra familia recibió una noticia desgarradora. A nuestro querido padre, Luis Páez, le diagnosticaron ELA (esclerosis lateral amiotrófica), una enfermedad progresiva e incurable que le quita lentamente la capacidad de moverse, hablar y, finalmente, respirar. Casi al mismo tiempo, a nuestra madre, Angela Allup, le diagnosticaron arteriosclerosis, una enfermedad grave que afecta su circulación y la pone en constante riesgo de complicaciones cardíacas.

Ambos viven en Venezuela, donde la inflación diaria hace que incluso los artículos más básicos, como medicamentos, alimentos y vitaminas, sean casi inaccesibles. Cada mes, el costo de su tratamiento y atención médica aumenta hasta quedar fuera de nuestro alcance. Estamos haciendo todo lo posible para apoyarlos, pero la realidad es que no podemos hacerlo solos.

Por eso creamos esta campaña de GoFundMe. Nuestro objetivo es recaudar $18,000 para ayudar a cubrir:
