My 11 year old Nephew Gabriel Sobina was recently diagnosed with a High Grade Glioma. It is a fast growing inoperable cancerous brain tumor. They are waiting on a few more test results to determine the subcategory it falls into to further determine his treatment, but this is what he will be treating for in the months to come.
Gabe is an adorable, smart, funny, kind, and loving soul who is loved by all who are lucky enough to know him. Some of his favorite things to do are play video games, hang out with his friends and family, watch movies, go swimming and boating, play with his ferrets and dogs, and of course eat Pizza.
This past week when Gabe met with his pediatric oncologist after they discussed different findings and looked at his MRI together and discussed his tumor, they decided to name it THANOS. Which we all think was pretty fitting. Hence the hashtag #DOWNWITHTHANOS was born.
The treatment they have recommended thus far is that he will go straight into radiation as soon as possible for six weeks straight and then it will be followed by chemo. Because of this rigorous treatment schedule my sister Kerri needs to be with him and will be taking an unpaid medical leave of absence so that she can be one of his care givers.
So we are reaching out at this time to all who know and love the Sobina family and little Gabe to ask for donations to help us to defray the costs of medical, gas, hotel, and lost wages as they begin the fight of a lifetime against Thanos.
In this time of COVID 19 this will be one of the main ways to fundraise for them, any size donation will be truly appreciated. And anyone who can't donate but would like to help please share the link and help us reach as many people as possible.
Over the past week the outpouring of prayers, cards, love, and support has been so greatly appreciated and helped give them all hope and strength... so keep them coming they are needed now more than ever.
