Gabe’s Chariot

Donation protected
On January 15, 2026, a fire displaced my brother Gabe, a full-time wheelchair user, along with our parents, Brenda Snyder and David McCullar, who act as Gabe’s full-time caregivers and benefits support.

Our family home was destroyed, along with nearly all of their belongings. Among everything that was lost, none is more critical than Gabe’s primary mode of transportation: a wheelchair-accessible transit van with a lift, lovingly referred to as “The Chariot.”

While many of us take personal transportation for granted, The Chariot gives Gabe access to the world beyond his front door. It allows him to attend necessary medical appointments to maintain his benefits, keep a standing Tuesday tradition of lunch and a movie with his grandmother, and experience moments of joy—like his visit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland just last year.

Replacing a reliable, wheelchair-accessible van is an absolute necessity before Gabe and our parents can begin the long and difficult process of rebuilding their home—ideally with long-overdue repairs and accessibility accommodations.

Gabe is a kind and gentle soul who has never asked for much, as anyone who has met him knows well. The Chariot isn’t just a vehicle—it is his independence, his connection to others, and his lifeline to the world.

In just a handful of days, we’ve surpassed 20% of our preliminary goal! We are deeply humbled that, even in the midst of this sudden tragedy, our community has stepped forward with generosity, encouragement, and a willingness to share Gabe’s story during this uncertain time.

David McCullar is a legacy member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Texas Kappa Chapter.
Brenda Snyder is an active member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Alisha Snyder is a proud member of Industrial Designers Society of America.
