Gabe's broken leg and ankle recovery

Hi, a fellow climber and good friend, Gabe Thompson broke 3 of his bones yesterday (11/12/23) after taking a climbing fall where he hit the ground. He broke his tibia, fibula, and medial malleolus. He now requires surgery which is set for Tuesday, 11/14/23. Unfortunately, Gabe does not have health insurance. So far the ER visit was $2,500. The surgery will be $40,000. And that does not include the cost for anesthesia. Gabe is a roofer, and the doctor said he will be unable to work for at least 4 months, but most likely 6 months. It will be a long road to recovery after surgery, Gabe will also require a lot of physical therapy to get back to walking again.
