Gabert's Rebuilding Fund

Donation protected
Friday, December 29th, 2017 our dear friends, Laurella & Trevor Gabert & their kids, lost their home and all their belongings in a fire.

They had been living in the home that Laurella's great-grandfather had built in 1936. The home stood on property in Crescent Spur-Loos, BC that Ole Leboe homesteaded in 1917. The Leboe's founded the Leboe Brother's Sawmill in the valley as well as the village of Loos.

Laurella and the 3 kids were at home home when the fire broke out, and being 45 minutes from the nearest fire brigade (volunteer) tried, unsuccessfully, to fight the fire. In their attempt to fight the fire they did not think to grab anything from the house until it was too late. The 4 of them escaped with the clothes on their backs and not much else. Trevor was away working at the time. Two of the family's pups are missing as well. It is likely they were trapped inside, but the kids are hoping for a Christmas miracle and that they simply ran away from the fire.

The Gaberts are in need of absolutely everything. This is a very adventuresome and pioneering family that has spent the last 16+ years back in the valley. They live for the outdoors, regardless of season. They have started FaithGrows, which grows organic, hand-tended 2 acre vegetable garden for those in need. Whatever the family does not use, they donate to the foodbank in Prince George. When they are not farming or homeschooling, they are adventuring ... snowshoeing, winter hiking, winter camping, skating, back country camping, acting as tour guides to guests, family & friends of the amazing Robson Valley, promoters and supporters of The Ancient Forest/Chun T’oh Whudujut Provincial Park and Protected Area, leaders of Josh's Place drop-in at the McBride Evangelical Free Church, and faith-based, community minded spirit, love, and service to all who they touch.

I wish I could estimate the cost of what is needed. They have lost everything and it will be very costly to replace all the adventuring gear, homeschool supplies, books, games, etc.

Living as secluded as they do, their outdoor lifestyle, games, and books are what the kids turn to when chores and school are done. They want, and need, to get back outside.

They are already planning to return to the valley and redbuild, but that will take time. In the meantime, funds are needed to get life back to "as normal as possible'.

We are asking you to help with funds as soon as possible to get our friends back on their feet and to provide some normalcy to the kids.

The Gaberts have also asked for prayer support. This is a family who lives and walks by faith and trust in Jesus, and they are trusting in Him for provision, peace, and healing.
