Gabby's Medical Treatment Fund

Donation protected
I am reaching out on behalf of one of my closest friends and sorority sister, Gabriella (Gabby) Gonzalez, who is basically family to me. Gabby is currently in need of help to fund her medical expenses, but making the decision to reach out and ask others for help was not an easy choice. Gabby is a very humble and selfless person and has struggled for a long time with asking others for help or even sharing her story and health concerns with her closest friends and family, let alone the internet world. The thought of sharing part of her story for anyone to read is one of her biggest fears. But, despite being terrified, today Gabby is facing her fear, with my help. She can come to the tough realization that her health is deteriorating quickly and she can not afford the only option for treatment she has left.

Here is a very small portion of her story: As you may or may not know, Gabby was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease as a teenager and has been battling with it ever since. Crohn's is known as an "invisible disease" that most people don't take too seriously or ever take the time to understand. It's not until someone with Crohn's needs endless surgeries or colostomy bags that people take the time to understand the severity of the disease. Gabby has been fortunate enough to have lived all these years without getting to the point of needing a colostomy bag however, as time has passed she has gone through many challenges and other complications from the disease and has never achieved remission. Currently her Crohn's has worsened and has spread further through her GI tract. Short of removing the majority of her intestines the only option Gabby has is to do a combination of infusion therapy and 6mp. For those who don't know, 6mp is a form of chemotherapy. Gabby and her loved ones are hopeful that with this combination of treatment she will be allowed to live a longer happy and healthier life.

Over the years Gabby has had countless procedures, endoscopies, colonoscopies, and too many hospital visits to count. However, now with the option of this new treatment, she is faced with the reality of not being able to afford a treatment that could potentially save or prolong her life. She is currently in medical debt and her health insurance will only cover a small percentage of the total cost of the infusions and chemo. It was not easy for Gabby to come out and even tell this small part of her story, and it is even more difficult for her to ask for help. But, we feel she is running out of options and she has had to become okay with doing whatever it will take to help her get better.

Thank you for taking the time to read Gabby's story and Thank you to anyone who is willing to donate, at this point anything helps. The total amount for her treatment that won't be covered by insurance is roughly $7,000. We are trying to get as close to that goal to get her as many treatment sessions as possible. The sooner we can get Gabby the help she needs the more potential for her health to improve. Unfortunately Gabby can not do this without the love and support of others and I am hopeful she will receive more support than she could ever expect. Regardless of the amount of help she receives Gabby is more than thankful for everyone.
