We, The Georgia Landlord Coalition, hope to have your support. Our members plan to be active participants in City, County, State Government and Federal Government. This participation involves campaigning, volunteering, and financial support to those who actively support our cause. Other benefits to you include help with fundraising events and rallies.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Thomas E. McFarland, Jr. I’ve been a landlord and Broker/realtor for over 25 years in Cobb County. The market has gone from top to bottom and back up again just as markets do. In 2020, we all experienced an unprecedented time with the Covid-19 Pandemic. Most of us living have never seen or experienced anything like this. Businesses closed or had reduced hours, there were massive layoffs, communities issued stay at home orders (aside from the essential workers), and even schools moved to virtual learning. Then came the stimulus money! The government began to give money to civilians and businesses alike and increased unemployment benefits to keep the economy going and to keep people in their homes. The bailouts were helpful to so many, but one group in particular has suffered. Landlords have been hurt and so far, nothing has been done to alleviate the burden placed on the landlords caused by the Eviction Moratoriums.

Now, halfway through 2021 (nearly 18 months after the start of the pandemic) the CDC continues to uphold a moratorium on evictions despite the Supreme Court ruling that this was unconstitutional. The government has overstepped its boundaries by interfering in private business/entrepreneurship. Most people are again employed and there is a staffing shortage as companies cannot find help. Tenants that refuse to pay rent have no fear of eviction because they know they can stay without penalty. Meanwhile, the landlords/owners are still required to pay their investors or mortgages. Enough is enough! Our complaints have fallen upon deaf ears. In light of this crisis, I have decided to create The Georgia Landlord Coalition to give voice to landlords and property owners.

What can we, as landlords, do to impact our current situation? We can join together and unite for a common cause. By combining our resources, experiences, and by networking, we can help one another. We can become that much larger voice that will be heard. As a non-partisan group, there will be opportunities to lobby those in city, county, state, and even federal arenas for their support of The Georgia Landlords. Remember, there is power in numbers. Start today to protect what you have worked so hard to build by joining The Georgia Landlord Coalition. Remember, there is power in numbers. Let’s use that power to affect change for landlords and property owners.

After you and your team have taken some time to review our Coalition’s goals, please let us know if we can count on the support from you. If this cause is as much of a concern to the campaign as it is to us, then we (The Georgia Landlord Coalition, Inc.) would like to pledge our financial support. In addition, your campaign is invited to place a link on our webpage for private donations as well as an advertisement and upcoming calendar of events. These items can be forwarded to me and I will get the items to my web designers. If you are willing to make a brief video addressing the concerns facing today’s landlords, we would place it on our website’s homepage for optimal viewing. We hope to hear from your team soon.
