Hello my friends and family,Most of you know that I took the trip of a lifetime at virtually no cost to me. My daughter was so excited for me she offered to keep the boys while I traveled. We arrived in Rome on August 29. We had 2 days there and then we embarked the Crown Princess to sail around Greece. What a trip of a life time right? On Tuesday September 4 my foot and lower leg started to swell and I could no longer walk. Wednesday I went down to medical and they immediately started intravenous antibiotics. I had gotten a staff infection from a little scratch on the bottom of my foot. I continued to go everyday down to medical for my dose while my cousin wheeled me back and forth in the wheelchair. The remainder of my trip was spent in the cabin running a high fever with my leg elevated. Saturday we disembarked the ship, me still in a wheelchair. The original plan was to spend Saturday and Sunday in Athens,Greece and then to get on the plane Monday. Well my foot was not getting any better, in fact it was getting worse. We decided I had to go to the hospital right away. So we arrived and I had about 6 different doctors looking at this nasty infection on my leg! I am still in the hospital in Athens receiving intravenous antibiotics every eight hours. I had an MRI on my leg yesterday to make sure it hasn't gone into my muscle or bone. Hopefully I will return home Friday but will need to to go directly to the hospital. Now you ask me did I get travel insurance? No, no I didn't. This is why I need your help. The doctors in Greece have done everything possible to keep the cost down and are even willing to give a discount on the bill but I'm sure the cost will be high. I would appreciate any help you might be able to give since this appears to be a long term situation. Thank you in advance.
