Athan's Medical Fund

This is Athan. He is 13, and has a huge heart for soccer, and has played competitively for many years. Unfortunately, Athan has another thing on his heart and mind: he was recently diagnosed with a coronary artery anomaly. Typically, young athletes don’t find out they have this heart defect until they have gone into cardiac arrest and the autopsy reveals the cause. This all comes as a shock to Athan and his parents because he has led a healthy and active life up until now. After collapsing on the soccer field and ending up in the emergency room and ICU on 3 different occasions, his parents have fought to find out what’s wrong with him. After extensive testing, they finally got an answer but it’s not one they had hoped for. The bad news is Athan could go into sudden cardiac arrest at any time and will probably never step foot to play on a soccer field again. His family has taken on debt with all the hospital stays and now wants to travel to visit with the experts at Mayo Clinic who can help Athan get well. Just the consultation alone is $5,000, and who knows what treatments will cost. Athan comes from a good, strong family, and we’d like to see Athan play soccer again.  Please, your support would help a lot!
