A senior at the University of Kentucky studying Landscape Architecture, I’m interested into resilient design approaches to protect from climate change while enhancing our natural resources within city limits.
As many of you know, Puerto Rico was hit by hurricane Maria last year. The effects of it on the island were catastrophic. The shadow of its aftermath still lingers while people are still trying to recover from it, including many friends and relatives.
Now, I’m required to participate on a study abroad program to graduate. I was luckily accepted to such a program in Italy but, in order to graduate next year, I have to go this winter!
After the hurricane, I don’t want to further burden my relatives in Puerto Rico with additional economic assistance, after all they have done for me.
However, I’ve come to realize that my savings from working while studying will not cover my study abroad costs.
Thanks for your help!
