Help Amigos De Animales, Inc. become mobile!

Tax deductible
Panama is a country of 4.5 million people, many of whom live at or below the poverty level.  Numerous indigenous inhabitants of Panama still live hand-to-mouth, either maintaining small household farms to grow their own food or traveling from one farm to another on foot to harvest food or coffee for a small wage.  One of the comforts they find is in having a cat or dog that offers them unconditional love.

Sadly, those pets are often the last to receive food or medical care due to a lack of funds.  The animals are often forced to roam whatever area they occupy, looking for something to eat and often coming across other dogs and cats that may fight for food or to have intercourse.  Many females become pregnant, and their owners do not have the resources to care for their babies.

Amigos de Animales de Boquete was formed 15 years ago when a few local residents recognized the need to reduce the population of homeless cats and dogs to improve the lives of both animals and humans in our area.   At the time, no matter where you went you were likely to see packs of skinny, homeless dogs and sad-looking feral cats, none of whom were well-fed or received any medical care.  There were no resources available to sterilize those animals, and without the ability to control the population, many of them were left to roam the streets.

Amigos de Animales was formed with the express goal of providing low– or no-cost spay and neuter services to relieve this area of these animals.  In our 15 years of existence, we have sterilized over 15,000 animals, but the need is still great.

Many of our local neighbors do not have the means to bring their animals to our clinic building, so we would like to purchase and outfit a mobile clinic so we can take our services to them.  In addition to low-cost sterilization, we will be able to use a mobile clinic to offer wellness checks, provide education and offer vaccinations to people who cannot afford those services for their animals or cannot make their way to where such services may be offered.   Because we never turn away a pet owner for lack of ability to pay, we depend on donations from people like you to keep our clinic going and, today, to help us purchase a mobile clinic.  Any amount will help us reach our goal of helping our Panamanian and expatriate neighbors care for and improve the lives of both their families and their pets.

During the current pandemic, we are also using donations to our organization to help feed animals throughout the community who otherwise would be left to fend for themselves.  We have already delivered many bags of dog and cat food to local shelters and to individual families to help sustain their pets during this crisis.

Thank you for your help to reach our goal to purchase a mobile clinic for Panama’s animals!  We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so all your donations are tax-deductible! To learn more about us, please visit our website at www.aadab.org
