Transmission Replacement Fund

Last year I started a fund to get a car, well here she is. Got her in June for a great price, but unfortunately the transmission went south after a month.
The rest of the car is in great shape and once the transmission is fixed, will keep me on the road for a very long time.
I pride myself on being self sufficient, so to do this again is something that for me goes against my grain.
But I really can see no other way than to go to one of these fly by night loan places that cost more than their loan is worth.
Please help me.
