People with Disabilities are making great strides as are the opportunities for them to participate in the community just like everyone else. We see people with disabilities running successful small businesses; competitively participating in sporting events, writing books, creating commercially viable art and basically everything that most people take for granted daily. What we don’t see regularly is a way to recognize and learn about these people and opportunities that they have created for themselves and their community.
The Exceptional Experiences Expo is a day to celebrate the people and opportunities that aren’t letting disabilities stop them from living their lives to the fullest. Our goal is to showcase these people and opportunities to a larger audience. There are several sports, theater groups, advocacy groups and entrepreneurs doing wonderful things.
The first two Expos were extremely successful and the hope is to continue to grow each and every year. We increased in size from twenty vendors in the first year to twenty-seven in our second year. The first two expos were held at the Museum of Disability History and the expo has outgrown the venue. There are many more organizations, disabilities, entrepreneurs that we hope to add with a bigger venue.
