Help Me Stay In School

Donation protected
My name is Jessie Emge, I am a sophomore here at Washington State University. I consider myself very independent. My father passed away when I was younger and my mother is in prison right now. My closest family is my two sisters who live in Pennsylvania. The people who took me in when I was in high school, have made it clear that I cannot stay with them over breaks and that they are much happier now that I am gone. Leaving me with no place to call home.

I am the first person in my family to go to college. I have paid for my own car, my phone plan, car insurance, and any other expenses on my own since high school. With no savings or a college fund, I've been working my butt off to stay in school. I was just recently hired at a store in the Moscow Mall. That adds up to four jobs while trying to balance being a full time student, which is not easy. All I want to do is prove to people that no matter what your past is, where you come from, or obstacles you have to pass, if you really want something, you can make it happen. Most importantly, I want to prove to the people who doubt me, that I WILL graduate from a four year university.

I am a member of a sorority, I have sisters who surround me with support and show me what a family is actually like. They have made me a better person and have inspired me to be the best woman I can be. Some have offered for me to stay at their house over breaks, unfortunately I have to stay here in Pullman alone over the holidays so I can still work. I am proud to call them my sisters. I would hate to leave them, but I'm so behind in chapter dues that it's creating a barrier for me to attend things like our formal or sisterhoods. Quite honestly, I don't even know where I would go. If I do leave, is would be very difficult for me to find somewhere to live. This is the only thing I can call home.

I stay pretty humble, and that's why it took me a long time to make one of these. I didn't believe that people would think my story was a big deal. However, I'm down to my last straw to stay in school. If I can't stay here, I have no where to go. The school told me I cannot take out anymore loans this year and I won't be able to receive anymore grants either. I could never explain how appreciative I would be for even just the smallest donation. Literally, anything counts and I will be forever grateful!

I just want to stay here, surrounded by the people who actually care. Please, if you could donate anything, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you!
