Ashley's Bucket List

On September 5, 2014, our beloved 18 year old daughter, Ashley, was diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.   Upon hearing this devastating news, we arranged for Ashley to undergo surgery at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle.  At this time, the surgeons, discovered that the cancer had spread throughout her abdomen, into one of her lymph nodes.  A complete hysterectomy was performed which started menopause, which apart from other complications, resulted in Ashley's inability to bear children.

The available research on Ovarian Cancer is related to woman, 50 years and older.  The heartbreaking statistics are chilling, resulting in a life expectancy of 10 years.   We are praying that current research, prayers, love and Ashley's faith in life will overcome these predictions.

Ashley, grew up learning to compensate and live a happy life, while coping with ADHD and Aspergers.  She is a sweet and loving young lady, with guidance and help from us, graduated in June 2014. We could not have been prouder of her achievement. We both smiled and shed tears when she accepted her diploma.

In August, Ashley was making plans to attend the Floral Design Institute in Portland, Oregon , and like other teenagers was looking for work.  All her plans are currently on hold.  She has many talents, is an avid reader, creates amazing floral designs,  loves animals, and enjoys raising rabbits.  Whenever we have a family get together, the young children gravitate to Ashley.  Even Moms and Dads, have a problem when they try to pry them away to go home.

Ashley created a "a Bucket List" of things she would like to do, two on the list are a trip to Disney World and to see a Lava Volcano.  She also wants to swim with sharks, and fly on a zip line, she accomplished the Zip Line at Thanksgiving.  She has always been something of a daredevil, no amusement has been too fast, or too high, and the scarier the better.

We would like to have her achieve her Bucket List, sooner, than later, not knowing what the future holds.
Ashley's 21 year old brother, Alex, was born with severe cerebral palsy. We chose to keep him at home. He needs 24 hour nursing care.  Due to the serious nature of Alex's health problems, it has been difficult to take trips, all of which affects family vacations.  Any family vacations requires us to pay for extra nursing care.

Please help us bring reality to Ashley's Bucket List.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Ashley.
