There is a very unique opportunity open to me that I would like to share with you:
The Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune India, is offering a ten day intensive taught by Geeta Iyengar, reknowned teacher and daughter of the late BKS Iyengar. RIMYI is the “mother institute” for the Iyengar Yoga method worldwide. Normally, there is very limited space for western students and it is open only to those who are either advanced practicioners, or certified teachers. Geeta's course however, is open to any student with three or more years experience. So it provides an opportunity for students like me who would otherwise not be eligible to study at the institute in Pune. This is indeed a rare and special event!
Iyengar Yoga engages my physical body, intellectual mind and spiritual soul. The focus on correct anatomical alignment allows me to sharpen my awareness of how I move and use my body. This is such an invaluable tool to me as a working musician! Playing the piano intensively can be very taxing, both physically and mentally. I cannot imagine where I would be without this practice. Currently, I strive to be a more wiser, more patient and purposeful student. In the future, with enough commitment, practice and *ahem* instruction (if you catch my drift!), perhaps I will be fortunate enough to teach and share this wonderful gift with others.
The cost of the course is $500, which I payed in September in order to ensure my spot. Now, I am facing further expenses of $1,700 for airfare and a reasonably priced hotel. I simply do not have the means to cover these costs.
Friends, I cannot do this without you!! As it turns out, traveling to the other side of the world (and lest we forget, the return trip!) is rather pricey. My hope is simply to offset enough of the travel expenses in order to make this trip possible. Please, I ask you to search your hearts—and your wallets(!!)—and see if you might find a little good will to send my way.
Many thanks, and Namaste.
