Cancer: it's the word no accomplished soccer player wants to hear. As quickly as the word could be spoken, the family and friends of Oscar Alonso Campa rushed together to support their future Cristiano Ronaldo (a world-famous soccer-player) in his journey to not only fight for his life, but to fight for his dreams.
The 'small but tall' 13-year-old dreams of becoming a star soccer player and is described by those who love him most as "athletic, outgoing, smart, positive and
always happy." Oscar attends South Middle School in Salina, Kansas, where he excels in math and has stellar dreams to one day play soccer abroad, or to help others through plastic surgery.
The second oldest of four siblings, Oscar loves eating pizza, visiting Los Angeles, spending time with his Tio Nano, and, of course, playing soccer with his friends. Although friends and family of Oscar, and those who know his story, are afraid and hopeful for the 'tiny but mighty' warrior to beat this cancer, no one could have better words about going into this experience than Oscar himself.
Asked to describe how he felt about being diagnosed with Stage Three Osteosarcoma, a cancer that affects about 400 teens
and children (mostly males), Oscar states: "I'm scared, it's hard to get through cancer, but not impossible."Born in September, on the 29th to be exact, Oscar already seems destined to beat this cancer; with the beginning of his journey and birthday falling into Child Cancer Awareness Month. We ask you to come together in this time of need for a loving family and a boy with big dreams to make this difficult, but 'not impossible,' journey of beating
