Katie Rees Family College Fund Half/Full Marathon
My wife Sarah has been sharing with me sad news about young women from Fairview Park who has been courageously fighting cancer. Katie Rees has made quite a positive impact for the people who have been fortunate to have met her. As I write this my understanding is she is unfortunately continuing her battle in hospice and is surrounded by many caring family members and friends.
Katie and her husband Brian have two small children I would like to help. I have been trying each year to help a family affected by this type of tragedy. Several co workers and friends of mine will be running in the Rite Aid Cleveland half and full marathon on May 20th to help raise money for Katie's children's college fund.
I think the most I have run at one time is 6 miles. I made this decision three days ago so I think the half marathon is more realistic then the full marathon. I will try my best to get ready for the full. (79 days to get ready). I will focus on raising money and figure out a way to at least do the half marathon. My best friend Mike Mahoney will be running a full marathon for Katie, in addition to my co worker Matt Rohde who will join me in the half. Anyone who wants to join us in the run is welcome.
