Juliana's Emergency Medical Fund

Donation protected
Me and my husband have been in the USA since the year 2000 when we escaped persecution against Christians in Indonesia. While our Asylum case has been pending, we have been working in warehouse jobs, until Juliana had her first stroke on August 12, 2013.

We did not qualify for medicaid or medicare because we are not yet US citizens. We did not have health insurance because we could not afford it, so she could not enter any rehab center. The stroke paralyzed the entire left side of her body.

When she was discharged from the hospital, she could not get physical therapy, and made very slow progress to recover. We lost our place to live, and stayed in temporary housing provided by the Reformed Church of Highland Park for 5 months. We had just gotten back into our own apartment when, on September 23, 2014, Juliana had a second stroke. Once again she was discharged into no rehabilation services, because we cannot afford them. The second stroke took away her ability to speak and swallow, and is causing her many cognitive difficulties. I cannot leave her by herself to go to work.  We have no income, no government assistance, and no family members here to rely on.

We are daring to ask for $60,000 because we believe in miracles. We are active in the Indonesian Seventh Day Adventist Church of South Plainfield, NJ and before her stroke we helped care for many children whose fathers had been deported. Juliana is so motivated to get better; before her second stroke she was standing up and trying to walk again. Treatment exists to cure her; we just need the opportunity to access it.

Thank you for letting our story move your heart.
