Jimmy Lewis

Jimmy Lewis is a 28 year old husband and father of three amazing little boys. He works hard for his family and is a guy you can call when you need help with something and he will show up every time.

This past month, Jimmy discovered he has a corneal ulcer.  This ulcer showed up overnight and is the result of a bacterial infection in his eye (from wearing contact lenses). At this time, he is using antibiotic drops every 15 minutes (24 hours a day) and has been visiting the doctor daily for evaluation. At his most recent doctor's visit, he was informed that the ulcer has thinned quite severely and is close to perforating. If the ulcer does perforate, Jimmy will lose total sight in his right eye and require an emergent corneal transplant. If the ulcer does not perforate, Jimmy's eye will require weeks/months to heal properly and he will likely lose at least some of his sight.



This current medical situation has left Jimmy unable to work (no physical activity and strict bed rest) and he is facing weeks/months of treatment and recovery. The antibiotic drops alone cost between $200 and $300 per bottle and they are NOT covered by insurance (and using them every 15 minutes makes them go quickly). Jimmy and his wife are already tapping into their next mortgage payment to cover the costs for his medicines. Whether the eye begins to heal or perforates and requires a transplant, Jimmy has months ahead of him before life returns to normal.
