The Pee Dee Post digital newspaper
My name is Kevin Spradlin. I moved to Richmond County, North Carolina in September 2013. I had no idea that life would lead me to create a digital, seven-day-a-week newspaper in my new home only seven months later. Less than six months in, it's time we ask for your help in mainting and improving our capabilities to provide you the timely and accurate news you care about most.
The stated goal is $7,500 but the hope is we can muster $50,000, which will immediately be invested in new hires in advertising and editorial to help report on the goings-on in and around Richmond County.
Over the course of the Post's first five-plus months in business, however, it seems clear how desperate the need was and is for an alternative, daily, reliable source for community news. Each day's effort is not perfect, but you can be sure it's the best we have to offer. As a locally owned and operated online newspaper, you also can be sure the Post can and will always be responsive to the communities it serves.
The Pee Dee Post and PeeDeePost.com was launched on April 28, 2014. In the first full month of operation (May), the site attracted 10,232 unique visitors who generated 458,323 page views. The numbers have only been increasing ever since:
