It is very difficult to ask for help, but for three years we have struggled to care for a colony of feral cats in an area that does not offer TNR or cheap veterinarian care. While many of the ferals have already been fixed, there are still 8 young adult females (ready to come into heat) and 4 adult males unaltered and we have no means of helping them. The cost of spaying a female is $178.00 Canadian, and $78 per male, plus any additional incidentals that may come up.
The colony now lives in our back yard, in shelters we have built with our own money. There are two new litters of kittens that we have not yet seen, so do not know the number or sex of these, and they are not included in the 12 that need to be spayed/neutered immediately.
Just feeding the cats has become a huge financial burden on us, and with our jobs being seasonal, we are now into the time of year where we do not have steady income coming in and my greatest fear is that the day will come when we do not have anything to feed the many mouths that have come to depend on us for help.
Winter is fast approaching and I would love to be able to get these cats fixed in order to avoid kittens being born into harsh cold conditions.
We are a finacially struggling family, trying to help these innocent little beings live a slightly better life, but we desperately need help to do so.
We dread the day when there are simply too many mouths and not enough food and we hear them crying out to us in hunger.
So we are asking for help, so we can manage to reduce the number of unwanted litters of feral kittens and to help ensure that they have food this winter. Donations of cat/kitten food would always be welcome.
Please, please, if you can help with any amount possible, even the smallest donation would be of enormous help!
