RandomDots: Your Weekend Surprise in Singapore!

I. Who are We? 

Hey you! We are Marc and Anna - two aspiring entrepreneurs living in Singapore and always on the lookout for new and exciting things to do here. We have been passionate about helping friends and family experience this amazing city through its hidden gems, diverse activities and vibrant events without the hassle of planning and researching, and hope to do so for more people in the near future! 

RandomDots was borne out of this passion.


II. What Problem are We Tackling?

People living in Singapore may spend a lot of time planning their holidays, but not their weekends. They want to be more active to maximize the unique experiences “the little red dot” can offer and leave the comfort of routine, but do not have the time or energy to research and plan “what to do” amidst the stress of daily responsibilities.

III. Our Solution

We want to surprise people with their individual and personalized weekend adventures, designed specifically for each person to explore their home city in a unique way. We truly believe that lasting memories can be created without catching the next flight out of town or breaking the bank.

IV. How Are We Unique?

Hospitality and experience providers are focused on providing tourists visiting Singapore with the “signature” activities to tick off the must do list, but none provide personalized and affordable day trips for people that are LIVING in Singapore. 

We want to change that.

At RandomDots, we aim to curate your "surprise" weekend in town.

V. Beta Test (Our Experiment)

We are currently testing our goal to create special one-day adventures for Singapore dwellers from February-March in 2020. Upon making your donation here in accordance to the package you picked (e.g. for a Premium package for 2pax, the donation would be SGD$100) , we will send you a personality quiz for you to fill out and confirm on a date. Thereafter, sit back, relax and start anticipating that day off without stressing what to do, how to get there, and where to eat! We got you! :))

If we hit our donation target of SGD $5,000/£2,890 before 31 January (more details in Section VI below), we will offer 50% off to the first 60 customers for their second RandomDots trip. 
*$60 SGD = £34 (28 out of 35 slots left)
*$100 SGD = £56 (14 out of 15 slots left)
*$240 SGD = £134 (10 out of 10 slots left)

We are excited to share the first couple's trip that we planned for 18 January 2020. This millennial couple (one from Australia and the other from the UK) has just started dating a month ago. Both have been living in Singapore for more than 2 years and has long "ran out of things to do" on the weekends. Here is the trip we planned for them! The map is for reference purposes only. 
VIII. Our Fundraising Goal 

We set out to raise SGD $5,000 (approximately £2,890) before 31 January, 2020 to go towards our research, planning and booking costs for your one day adventure and taking the RandomDots Project from the Beta test phase into a live, functioning product that will eventually help people all over the world rediscover their city and leave their comfort zones. 

If we successfully reach our goal, we will send people on their first weekend adventures starting 1 February, 2020. We are also giving out 8 FREE RandomDots Trips away for free if you can help us spread the word on social media! X. Our Vision

Currently, 1.2 million millennials are based in Singapore, which include a mix of locals and expats. Increasingly for millennials, tangible possessions such as cars and houses are becoming less important as the desire for experiences grow, with 78% of millennials indicating their preference to spend on experiences over material possessions. In real life, location-based experiences has grown out of this demand, and is on road to become a $12 billion dollar industry by 2023.

Under this backdrop, we want to encourage millennials to put down their phones and rethink how they can build a deeper bond with each other, and with the city they live in. The RandomDots experience does this by motivating millennials to re-engage with their home cities all around the world, starting with Singapore.

XI. The Community

We want to create a platform for people to share their unique experiences in Singapore and inspire others to explore more of what this city has to offer! From what is the best place to go for sushi to where the coolest dance party is in town, we want to hear it all! 1. What is the process after I make my donation?

For donors wishing to go on a RandomDots adventure, please make a donation and leave us with your name and email address, we will be in touch via email/ WhatsApp with regards to the personality quiz. Your adventure checklist, itinerary and vouchers (when applicable) will be delivered to you electronically in accordance with Section V above.

2. What is the meaning of RandomDots?

We connect the random dots on a map to weave together an experience that will be unique and memorable for you.

3. What is in the RandomDots database? How do you collect your activities?

The RandomDots database has been built over the last 12 months. We have tested every activity on the database first hand. We strive to build all of our adventures on the premise of quality and thus we only suggest activities that we can testify for. However, we may suggest pop-up events if we find one that matches your adventure persona - due to the impermanence of such events, we may not have had a chance to attend the event ourselves.
