KC Southard II Headstone Campaign

Donation protected

The whole effort you see before you is an attempt on my part to help heal my family from a kind of pain that is impossible for them to forget. Several years ago now, on OCTOBER 21st, 2012, my nephew KC Paul Southard was violently murdered at the age of 18 and his loss has indeed left a gaping wound in all of our hearts; family, friends, locals, and many more who had some of KC's light affect them at one time or another.

As of today, there still has not been a resulting Court Decision against the accused. In addition, it bothers me to admit that after all this time, KC doesn't have an official gravestone. There's no blame on anyone or anything for this; it is just glaringly present.

Perhaps, it reveals the reality of many families, such as ours, that have lost one or more of their children to violent crime and how difficult it must be to complete this awful journey afterward. Not every family has supportive media agenda nor an accompanying rally against their accusors. Not everyone has the immediate resolution of justice. Not everyone has the monthly finances to take on every compounding weight that is gradually added to their lives once they have had a similar experience.

KC's Mother and Father, Kelly and Ian Bidgood have survived greatly, yet I'm sure very little can comfort them about KC's death. I believe the lingering irresolution of the Headstone has contributed to the slow-burning distress and helplessness that is felt by his parents and a great many of those in the circle within and surrounding this family. I want to relieve this weight for them, and infuse their strength with love and vitality.

KC has a lovely burial place in Tucson, near family members. The photograph you can see above this Introduction is of KC's biological father and son at a recent visit. I've also included another picture of KC's grave, as it has been lovingly decorated for the season, at the bottom of this column.

With that said ... I am using this Website  in a sincere attempt to reach out locally to those who loved KC Paul, and who may feel sympathies for his immediate family, and those of us forever hurt by his murder. KC PAUL SOUTHARD II deserves a complete grave to honor him, but perhaps more importantly, to help his family (my family) heal and build from some positive, beautiful closure, instead of the absense of such things.

The price for a moderate headstone at his cemetary is expensive. The scenario at the Cemetary will not allow a headstone from outside their graveyard's fabrication services to be used. This apparently is not unusual with a number of graveyards these days. It's a scam. Some of these cemetaries will charge a family an extraordinary fee for their gravestones because the family has already relied on them to assist with their burial arrangements. So they become tied to the legal obligation of the graveyard's ruleset, without the means of affording everything.

Last year I felt compelled to convince KC's parents to accept my personal savings of $2000 as a down-payment. Therefore currently this is that amount on a deposit for a quality gravestone that is being "held" until the rest can be paid for. The remainder is double what we deposited. Unfortunately, the balance has been out of reach for KC's parents ever since. As you know, life isn't easy nor is raising a family. I am proud of them. Especially as they continue to navigate through all this while the actual trial hangs over them in indecision.

Although a headstone can't change things, or bring KC back ... they needed this years ago.

And so I reach out to my community of intelligent, compassionate friends and citizens with this effort.

I'm here to offer a CHALLENGE to MATCH what I have personally spent on the current gravestone deposit ($2000) to pay for the entire amount remaining.

I'm offering memorial "KC - Rest in Paradise" T-Shirts to all those who choose to donate 25 dollars or more for this purpose. I personally designed and will print each shirt utilizing my own equipment through, "Wyrd World WebWear." The GOAL is to generate the remaining amount of money for the headstone, to pay for the materials in producing the memorial T-Shirts, and to cover the GOFUNDME website percentage costs.

This effort, with the help of a sympathetic public, may be THE BEGINNING of a kind of POSITIVE MOMENTUM that can soothe my family's emotional pain and assist their forward steps into a direction where true comfort and healing can take place.

I plan on having this Online Vehicle of GOFUNDME open for only a few short weeks. This will not be an open ended effort. The sooner I can help solve this situation in our lives, the better.

- For a minimum $25 Dollar donation, you may own a Memorial T-Shirt -

The KC PAUL SOUTHARD II Memorial Shirts will be showcased in forthcoming updates, and GOFUNDME posts, shortly.

Please email me here, and inform me your prefered size or if you would like to order a certain number of shirts.
Each shirt will be made and sent to you within 3 weeks. You, of course, are under no obligation to take a shirt.

For shirt sizes and questions: Please email me through the GOFUNDME message system. I will respond promptly.

Lastly, TUESDAY THE 21st AT NIGHTFALL (6pm), there will be an Annual Candelight Vigil gathering at the Sierra Vista Park Skatepark for any and all who wish to come and participate. Please bring a candle and if you'd like, a blue or white balloon to be released.

Thank you so much for reading this 1st formal advertisement intended to solve this goal. I am humbled and appreciative of any and all cooperation and care.
