Immigration Fees

In 2012, I met the love of my life online. He was American, I was Belgian, and a decision needed to be made. One of us was going to have to move countries. We decided together that it made more sense for me to move to the US. And so I did. We married, we started a business, and began the long and expensive process of legal immigration.

In 2018, my husband unexpectedly passed away. As brand new business owners, we did not have much in savings. What we had went to immediate costs related to my husband's untimely passing and keeping our business alive. I went back to work a week after his passing to make sure that what we had built together would not be lost with him.

Because my immigration status was still pending, the passing of my husband has introduced serious complications into the process. Overwhelmed by my personal circumstances and the complexity of the process, I had no choice but to work with an immigration lawyer, because deportation is a real consequence at this point.

I have pared down my cost of living to the essentials, I work full-time and my business will soon be providing employment to at least one US citizen. However, I have no savings and the need for a lawyer is incredibly urgent.

$2000 of the amount required would pay off the lawyer's fees completely. $400 is needed for pre-interview preparation. Another $100 is needed for various filing fees and transport to and from legal appointments. I will provide regular updates and give full transparency as to how these funds are being used.

I have worked hard to build a life, a business and a family in the US and would be devastated to lose everything I've built after already losing my husband. Any help you can provide would make it possible for me to work through these difficult times and give me the best possible chance to avoid deportation.
