Introduction
My name is Cassidy Alvarado. My stepfather’s name is JB Cohen, who was recently diagnosed with a rare, terminal angiosarcoma cancer that began in his stomach and has spread to his liver. He was a healthy 54-year-old prior to this year, but has been repeatedly misdiagnosed while being in and out of the hospital since March. JB is one of the most kind and self-less people I know. He has helped my mom raise my brother and I since we were 2 and 4 years young and continues to support us as adults. We are extremely grateful for the happiness he has brought my mom and our family throughout their 18 years of marriage.
Our Situation
We are a close-knit family who love to help others, however we find ourselves in need and have nowhere to turn. Asking for help isn’t easy but it’s something that will relieve a lot of stress my parents are having to go through. We are asking for both your prayers and also for monetary assistance if possible. JB was let go from his job along with his medical and life insurance, and consistent paycheck. He’s unable to continue to work as he undergoes chemotherapy and immunotherapy. My mom currently works a part-time job that she loves doing and has done for over 8 years. She is wanting to move to a full-time position but we are pushing her to stay put so she can spend the year life expectancy with her husband.
Expenses
My parents live in a fixer upper home, it needs a lot of work which is one of the main reasons we are seeking assistance. Their house needs a new roof, flooring, fence, and so much more in case they will have to sell. It’s not possible for my mom to cover mortgage, bills, repairs and future medical expenses on her own. JB’s time is limited and the financial burdens are taking a toll on him and our family so I am reaching out and asking for help. My mom and stepfather would never ask, but I can’t bare to see them go through this alone any longer. Every cent donated will go to repairs of the home, basic needs, and future medical expenses. We are extremely grateful to all those who are able to donate and/or pray for my family. Thank you.
