<div>My name is Janaye but I go by Nay, this year marks 11 years since I had two strokes. I was diagnosed with lupus in 2012. I had my first stroke at 26. It was mild and I was sent home, started feeling bad again a few days later. I got to the hospital and had a stroke in the ER waiting room . I woke up in a hospital bed and couldn’t talk. I would just point and couldn’t write. I spent 4 months in the hospital, the hospital thought that I was going to die. My aunt moved me out of the hospital because things kept going bad for me and she was concerned about my life. Fast forward to now, I went from not being able to talk to having full conversations. I'm still working on getting strength back in my legs to be able to walk. My current situation is living in a nursing facility. This October marks 10 years too long of being here. I was 28 when I first got here before it was a mix of other nursing facilities. The first nursing facility I was at was Pasadena Meadows. I was mistreated there and my speech was really bad. I just left the hospital, I really needed speech therapy. Instead I ended up with a stage four pressure sore on my tail bone. Due to the lack of them changing and repositioning me. Which led to me having a colostomy bag from 2015 to 2020. That caused my physical therapy to go slower because I was only allowed to be up for a limited amount of time due to my wound. The place that I’m in now helped me close that wound and was able to get the colostomy bag removed. I've been trying to get out of here to get my own place. I applied for section 8 three times within the last 4 years. The first time was with a social worker that was here but they never turned my paperwork in. The second time was with a company that works with this facility and the worker left the company and never finished my paperwork. The last time I worked with the new social worker here and we completed it and it was turned in. I honestly just want my independence back to get out and get a place of my own. I don't really have anyone to turn to for help because everyone has a life. I lost my mom when I was 7 and she was my everything. My uncle was a provider but he also passed in 09 before I was even diagnosed with lupus. I just need enough to move into a low income studio apartment. I need to buy furniture for a wheelchair user. Anything that you can give will help!
