Help us through this transition

After spending a lifetime of being 100% independent, it is a challenge for me to ask for such help.

After careful consideration, I feel my daughters needs outweigh my egos desire to hide in silence and handle this alone.

I am asking for help from my “village” of friends and family. Any donation is immensely appreciated.

Many of you are aware that I have recently been granted primary residence of my 12 year old daughter Isabella, and we are all extremely grateful.

What I have not made public is that my decision to go to the USA and bring her back here to Canada was under Emergency circumstances.

My daughter was diagnosed type 1 diabetic last July, and has been hospitalized several times with near fatal symptoms.

In all fairness, I must also take a moment to clearly  express that this was “not her mothers fault”.

I have learned in the few days while I’ve  been taking care of her, that this is a very tricky medical issue and very difficult to manage. It is a 24/7 job, and an immediate change of lifestyle for anyone managing it.

My daughters mother is a single mother that had primary residence of 3 other younger children as well- therefore being the full time care provider for 4 children up until now. In my opinion she has done an amazing job, however she is only one human, and the time has come for me to take full time care of my Daugher.

Adding type 1 diabetes to her already busy parental schedule became become too much for her to handle alone, and as parents we have come to the mutual agreement that my daughter will receive better care and attention under my roof considering the high level of risk this medical issue can cause, and the lack of time mom has available.

So so here is where I ask for help.

As I mentioned, my venture to go get my daughter was an emergency, and also came on very short notice (a couple of hours).

All parents will understand that when it comes to your children’s health, you just do, and deal with it later.

Furthermore, I have spent much of my time over the last few days in contact with state authorities, doctors, Endochrinologist, therapists, lawyers, prosecutors, My MLA, My MP, immigration, Msp of B.C, hospital administration, and have all the while been learning and managing her health and transition into our home here. It has been daunting, however we are succeeding in all directions.

(Edited)- the provincial government has not been so accommodating, however I have faith that once they get their act together everything will fall into place. (I have appointments with them Monday am regarding their unethical and questionably “illegal” behaviours and omission/neglect of duty ).

As you can understand, my focus was on getting her safe and established. I am still only part way there in my opinion, so Every donation helps!

Therefore my ability to source money has been compromised and will continue to be at a halt for the next couple of weeks.

Furthermore, I have had to spend money I don’t have to adapt to the emergency that was/is at hand.

Last, I am having to make many unexpected purchases over the next few weeks that are necessary to her comfort and safety.

These expenses include, food, medical/healthcare, emergency healthcare possible, clothing, toiletries and necessities, furniture, transportation, emotional comfort (crafts etc), and more.

It is my hope that $4000 will be enough to get us on our way and that once I have everything under manageable status I will be able to return to work and business as usual.

I thank you all for taking the time to read this, and I respect that many may not be able to help, so please understand that I ask that as many as possible could donate anonymously so that no one has any personal regrets for not being able to help.

I wish you and your families all the best.

We will succeed, that is what we all do.

hugs and love to all,

Michael
