The Hamill Family Needs Our Help!
Steve, Tammi and Gracie Hamill have found themselves in a position they never dreamed they would be in. In August it was discovered through tedious testing that 15 year old Gracie was born without reproductive organs resulting any many other issues including a tumor on her pituitary gland which is being watched for any further growth. Since then she has undergone several kinds of tests and her Drs are at a loss as to what the diagnosis is. It is a very complicated matter so Gracie's Drs consulted the medical professionals at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Maryland. They are flying Gracie and one parent out Dec 2nd for several days of extensive testing. The NIH will provide lodging for Gracie and one parent but Gracie REALLY wants her Dad there with her as well for extra emotional support since this is a very scary situation for her.
The Hamills have had a very tough year dealing with this and other health issues, financial problems and several unexpected situations that have come up. We are asking for family and friends to help provide funds so that Steve can travel back East with Tammi and Gracie. He would have to take time off from work and has very little vacation time left due to needing to take many days off during his wife Tammi's 2 surgeries and Gracie's medical testing. This is all very difficult financially for them. Having her Dad there is her first wish. Food is not covered for Tammi and Steve, just Gracie.
Gracie has an amazing attitude about all that is going on. She is involved with High school cheer, enjoys being social and has the most infectious laugh ever!:) Gracie is very nervous about all that awaits her at the NIH but knows the testing needs to be done. She has always wanted to visit New York City and we feel the appeal of getting to see this wonderful and exciting city will help her to have something to look forward to (after the testing) and hopefully soften the anxiety that comes with more tedious testing that awaits her. Unfortunately, the NIH's policy is for the family to fly back home the day after testing so that would make it impossible for Tammi, Steve and Gracie to extend their visit back East by 3 days to give them time to visit NYC. We also hope to raise enough funds to pay for a hotel room for 2 nights, bus fares from Bethesda, Maryland to NYC and meals. Consequently, airline tickets would have to include one way tickets home for Gracie and Tammi and the round-trip ticket for Steve. We feel it is not only very important for Gracie to be tested and hopefully have a diagnosis but also to help other young women that may be afflicted with this same condition in the future.
The Lord knows how difficult it has been on the Hamill family and Gracie. We feel it would be a blessing to find answers so other families would not have to experience the same trauma that this family has, especially Gracie. We ask that you consider helping the Hamills monetarily and also to please include them in your prayers. We know God is in control and has a plan for Gracie. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
