Sierra Leone Flooding Appeal

Melqosh Mission has restored this fundraising link for the benefit of those who wish to help families affected by this year's mudslide ( August 14th 2017)... The link was initially set to help victims of the Capital's flooding in 2015.
Funds raised in 2015 was used to procure 50 bags of rice which was donated to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs on behalf of the flood victims.
On September 15, 2015, extremely heavy monsoon-like rain hit Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. The devastation caused, after hours of such torrential rain, was extensive throughout the capital, particularly in the western area. Several homes, schools, and roads have been totally destroyed; hundreds of families were displaced as well. These families have been temporarily relocated to the country's National Stadium. The weather forecast for the next week remains bleak, with more rain expected in Freetown. Only essential personnel will be allowed to travel in the city. Unfortunately, Sierra Leone did not have a national emergency response body or center, to plan, coordinate, and provide for its citizens in today's natural disaster emergency situation. The response was simply nonexistent, on a national level.
Donated funds will be immediately remitted to Melqosh SL Team working in partnership with Nasser Ayoub, a very patriotic Sierra Leonean, residing in Freetown. He and our team will meet and distribute these funds to the displaced families, currently living at the National Stadium. Thank you, in advance, for your contribution.
