Help bring my sister Ruby home

Donation protected
My sister, Ruby Acosta, 38 years old, was in a terrible motorcycle accident July 21, 2014. She was airlifted to Methodist Medical Center Dallas, TX as a severe trauma patient and was immediately put on life support. The doctors suggested pulling the plug, that she was going to be a "no progress" case. After an initial visit to Dallas in late July, that was not the case, however, there was no voluntary response, only involutary movements. It did look hopeless but I knew she could fight so we went forward with care. After recieving a tracheostomy and reconstructive surgery on her face and resetting of her eye, she was moved out of ICU. The nurses said there was not any progress, it would always be this way...

After several weeks had passed there were small signs of progress. Here we are in Dallas again nearly three months since the accident and the progress is phenomenal; considering the initial diagnosis. She cannot operate her right side, still. BUT!!! To our surprise, Ruby was responsive to our voices, sometimes even commands! Looking when we called her name. Reaching up to grab our hands! Following us as we moved around the room and spoke to her! She likes to kick her left leg around or tap her foot often. She appears to react to emotion by reaching for a hand or rubbing your fingers or leg! We have nothing but hope for her recovery, however, now that she has been state funded for medical insurance, she is forced to be released to a nursing home facility. The cost to transfer her back home to California is not covered. Rehabilitation is not covered. These are the two most crutial necessities she has. Nursing homes do not offer the level of physical therepy or mental stimulus she desperately needs to be able to recover to the fullest of her ability. This is why we are graciously asking for finacial help and support to transfer Ruby to California and into a rehabilitation facility that will suit her needs. Every dollar counts and EVERY cent is appreciated to the fullest. Thank you.
