Kickoff for Artsakh

Hi there everyone! My name is Areni Hamparian and I have loved playing soccer - the beautiful game - for over a decade.  My love for soccer (futbol) grows when I reminisce about all this sport has done for me. Today, I am thinking of a specific way that I can give back to the heroic people of Arstakh, my homeland. In the summer of 2018, my sister Zabelle and I traveled to Arstakh and - like many people - fell in love with the people and land. We had a chance to visit the small village of Ashan, where we got to speak to the town’s Mayor and view the condition of the soccer field adjacent to the local school. From the video link provided - you can see that there is much work to be done to get the soccer field (pitch) in Ashan in tip top shape.  That said, the road ahead is clear. With hard work and a united effort - we can start the process of bringing a much improved soccer field to the children of Ashan and also for the benefit of kids from surrounding villages. Please support this effort so that - together - we can bring the joy of soccer to Ashan - in the free and independent Republic of Arstakh.

The town of Ashan is situated in the Martuni region of Artsakh - just three kilometers from the border with Azerbaijan. The Armenian Youth Federation (Western US) launched its first AYF Youth Corps project in 1994 in Ashan - with the aim of rehabilitating the local school. Chamlian Armenian School in southern California has as a sister school - Ashan’s local school.  Ashan is also home to some of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life and is well known as the hometown of numerous heroes who ensured Artsakh’s freedom and independence.
