Monica's Native American Flute Proj

Donation protected
Hello, Welcome to my Go Fund Me site!
I am Monica Kay Sicard a woman of mixed cultures, I am French and Mohawk on my fathers side and German on my mothers side. My siblings and I were not raised on the Mohawk reservation like so many of my mixed blood sister's and brother's.
30 Years ago I moved to Seattle after I got out of the Army. My heart has always been happiest out of doors singing, drumming or playing my flute.
My 1st flute came to me in a very amazing way. While living in West Seattle in 1998, I went to the first annual Art, Nature and Literature Festival as a mixed media artist, I draw and paint Medicine Shields. I met a young native man named Tony, and he and I shared drum and flute music all weekend. I was very shy and couldn't figure out how to make his flute sound as good as he did. He told me it only requires "Spider Breath" to play, I was able to make a few notes come out and was very drawn to this instrument. The Festival ended and we said our good byes. While packing my art work I felt someone behind me and the hair on the nape of my neck stood up, I turned and there was Tony holding out the flute to me. Needless to say I was stunned, he was gifting me his flute! I asked if he was going to teach me and Tony told me to sit under the cedars and the wind and the birds will teach me to play, and to only play "Spirit Song", that which Spirit choses to bring through me. I did as instructed by Tony. From that day to this I honor his gift by playing often.
Thanksgiving of 2014 after playing at the center for Spiritual Living, I was offered the gift of free studio time and was recored and produced by my friend Grandpa Leo Brodie, himself a gifted pianist and vocalist. Then after another service I played, my friend Ryan asked me how long I'd been playing the flute and when I told him 18 years he looked at me and said "18 years and you don't have a CD out?? That's truely ashame!"  It took 3 knocks on my door, the 3rd being another friend who asked me if I'd ever heard myself recorded, when I said no, she promptly provided me with 2 CD's of services I had played and told me to listen to them. I was honestly stunned. At that moment I knew beyond a shadow of doubt that this CD project was mine to do. I recorded in August of 2015 and I hope that you will enjoy my CD entitled "Along the Way".
I have had a gap since recording and moving forward with this part of the project. I feel that I needed to be clear within myself that I deserved the success I secretly know this CD will be. I had to expand my worthiness quotient  to embody the good I am bringing through my Flute music to you.
The money I am raising is for the CD mastering, reproduction and the making of the cover jackets for the CD, which will feature my own photography! I am so excited to share the gift of Spirit Song with everyone.  The sooner I can raise the money to complete my project the sooner it can be out in the world.
I am  truely grateful for your donation to the completion of my CD project.
Blessings on your Journey!
