(Hate crime) Medical bills and recovery expenses

While participating in Oaklands First Fridays, in celebration of beginning a new job as we reach yet another milestone in our relationship, we were the victims of a hit and run while crossing the street heading home.

Noel and Maui are Bay Area natives who found unconditional love and

friendship in one another. We are both active members of the community. When we're not at work, we can be found at many social events and community-based events. While typically assisting others in finding mutual aid, we have found ourselves in a situation that has put quite a burden on us financially, emotionally and physically.

As we ended the night, we began our walk home, hand in hand. While crossing the street, a car leaving taco bell merged into the lane we were walking through, and as we nearly exited the road, the vehicle accelerated in

our direction. The car ran both of us down, striking Noel first as he

attempted to move Maui out of its path; that heroic action would result in

various broken bones, ranging from the clavicle, ribs, and a pubic fracture.

Whereas this night started a night full of celebration; a new job, First

Fridays, and the first weekend of Pride Month, the night would take a

traumatic turn, landing us both at Highland Hospital. After being struck by a car for simply holding hands and crossing the street.

We humbly ask for any contributions to assist with medical bills and other

losses incurred during this traumatic time. While we usually find ourselves donating and sharing these links, this time, we are asking anyone who can
