Steckler/Seaman Community Help Fund

Hello friends and family,

I need to ask for help.
And in knowing that no person is an island, I am asking for support from my community.

As some of you know, we have been enduring extra-ordinary medical needs this year. My son, Shane has been going through cancer treatment. With both of my children now over the age of 18, I am finding that their care is now legally in their hands. At times, this creates big challenges, but they will endure, as they are not alone on their path.

Emotional and mental support has been coming through loud and clear for us. Thanks to my close friends and family. Shane is wanting to maintain his normalcy, and is handling this in a very logical and stable manner.

In acting quickly, and staying the course, he has recovered from two surgeries and 6 weeks of chemotherapy. He is now cancer free and is on a surveillance program. Hallelujah! At times, the stress is overwhelming, but by and large, Shane is doing very well. In my support of Shane, I encourage him to be his own advocate and to speak up when he needs something. I know that all who will read this letter love and support him. He has begun his final year at University of Puget Sound.

Financially, we had a miracle happen at the beginning of this years challenges. The laws changed just months before Shane found something suspicious, and with an opportunity to change our health insurance, we barely squeaked through a two day window, between the end of March and the need for surgery the first of April. Shane was able to secure a better insurance plan taking him from a $12,500 deductible to a $750 deductible, without being denied for a pre-existing condition.

Shane's cancer treatment is reaching $80,000.
Of which, I have been bearing the primary responsibility of making sure that his 10% contribution is met. I have been keeping us all afloat, but am truly beginning to see myself headed underwater. Some of my other expenses have been put aside and needing attention.

In asking for financial help from our community, I personally have time to give back.

If my community hears of opportunities , please think of me. I have a business background and I am very good at cleaning, organizing and bookkeeping. I can also design and draw construction documents if anyone is needing architectural services. I am willing to volunteer, trade, or work for a wage. I am open to any fund raising ideas and welcome any opportunity to help us bridge this financial gap.

I thank you all for the love being sent in whatever form it takes. I believe that this world operates in a balanced way and that communities strengthen the individual. I feel fortunate to be a part of yours.
Blessings to all,
Lee Marie Steckler and family.
