We are Jeff & Carole Way. We have been married for 18 years.. We have 2 beautiful daughters ages 13 and 9. As of 2 weeks ago, we have sold our house, our car and most of of belongings....
WHY? ARE WE CRAZY? We are glad you asked....
The answer is NO!!! We are moving to Africa!!!
6 years ago we met Kevin and Susan who started a project in Doma, Mashonaland, West Zimbabwe.
They shared lots of pictures and their stories of how the local social services asked them to take in a child that had been orphaned. It wasn't long before they returned and asked them to take another and then another and then another!!! Those few children now have grown into over a hundred children ranging in age from Newborn to Teens.
As the number of orphans grew, the need for a School to teach the children was obvious, so they built onel!!!
There is no hospital, so again the need was met and a free clinic was built to help the local people.
As Carole and I talked over the next few days we knew we needed to go and help out... so we went for 6 weeks in 2012. We helped with many things.
Carole being a Nursing student at that time was a great asset to the Clinic. My carpentry skills were put to the test in fixing the children's homes, and getting 2 new houses ready for the 30 kids waiting for a place to call home.
We knew that our lives were about to change!! When we came back home we knew we had some decisions to make that were going to change the direction of our lives. We sat down as a family and talked with our girls and we made the decision to sell everything we own and move to DOMA, West Zimbabwe!!!
We are excited about making a difference in the lives of the children and those in need in Doma.
There is a Shona Proverb that says, ""Mbeva zhinji hadzina marise" which translates to, "One person cannot do everything". We are excited to do the work that will be necessary.
There is another Shona Proveb that says, ""Chara chimwe hachitswanyi." which means "Somethings take more than one person to accomplish."
You are that one person that can help us accomplish much!!!!
If we all just give a little much can be achieved!!!
