Hello and Thank You so much for visiting my GoFundMe cause. My name is Emily Tice and I am raising money for a down payment on a replacement car due to an extremely traumatizing event.
On October 9th, 2020, around 2 AM, my car was involved in the shootings on Greenville Ave behind Snuffers. My car was parked in the lot on Penrose right behind the Snuffers building. From Snuffers, I rode with a friend to another location, where we stayed until about 1:45AM. I decided at that time that it was not a good decision to drive my car home that night. My boyfriend decided to drive us home and we chose to leave my car in the parking lot near Snuffer’s. When I went to pick it up on Saturday morning, the first thing I noticed was my broken passenger side window. It was shattered and glass was everywhere. I initially thought it was a break in, and was in shock thinking that someone was trying to steal the items in my car. Shortly after, I realized that nothing was missing from my car. Within seconds, I started seeing the bullet holes all over my car.
During my assessment of the damage, I found a "spent round" in the drivers side floorboard and called 911. That’s when my friend started telling me about the shooting the night before at 2 AM. After waiting for the police to arrive, the officer on scene informed me that the Crime Scene Unit would have to recover all evidence from my vehicle before I could do anything with it. It took two weeks for the insurance to assess all of the damage and recover all of the bullets from my car. In total there were 10 bullet holes in my car, 3 bullets left lodged in my car, and wo casings found near my car. My car was released Wednesday 10/21/20, more than a week after the shooting and was determined to be a total loss. Insurance is covering the cost of the loan payoff amount. I am needing some help with a down payment for another vehicle in an attempt to get manageable monthly payments. My rental car is due Wednesday 10/28/20 and additional fees will be charged to me for all additional days.
In the aftermath of all of this, all I can think of is "What if we went back?" I am massively blessed to have people in my life who love me. Because of them, We all went home instead of going to get my car. Because of them, we all got home safely that night. If we had gone to pick up my car that night, my friends and I could have been there at the time of the shooting.
I am hugely grateful for your time while reading my story. I appreciate your attention, your support and any help offered while I am going though this. Sharing my link would greatly appreciated as well.
Thank you so much!
