Future of Khmer Children Organization

We have recently visited various schools and organisations in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where we have carefully selected an organisation that we would like to support together with the help of our family, friends and businesses.

As soon as we crossed the front gate at Future of Khmer Children Organization (FKC) we knew it was "The One".

The dedication and support of the teachers together with the smiling faces of all the children present was  a welcoming sign and is what led us to this point. After spending a few days attending classes, meetings and community visits we knew that this amazing organisation needs our ongoing support to continue the work that they do... Providing children with a chance of a better life through education.

FKC runs two schools that serve more than 450 children annually in Siem Reap and the village of Nokor Krau. These schools offer multiple classrooms, a sewing centre, fine arts programs, IT tech facility, along with continual skills programs, curriculum upgrades, teacher training and so much more.  Emphasis on English, tech skills, sewing, native music, dance and art fill the roster of educational opportunities.

In addition FKC supports families in rural areas with food supplies, healthcare and funding for fresh water pumps.

Each year, the number of Cambodian families arriving at FKC to register their child has increased.

As a way of helping the children of FKC we had lengthy discussions with the director of the organisation as well as with the staff and the children. When we asked as to what projects are important for their ongoing education the below three were selected.

1.  AutoCAD Design Class for 2020.

Our first project is for the continuation of the very successful AutoCAD Design Class for 2020. This project will give the students the skill to a better education and the ability to carry on with further studies. As the country grows in infrastructure, the need for these qualifications is becoming in demand. These studies concentrate on technical design, AutoCAD design and Sketchup program.
The program for 2020 will run for 11,5 months and the breakdown in what it will cost follows:

- Qualified teachers salary for one year AUD $5,250
- Epson A3 - 3D printer AUD $750
- 3D compatible computer for technical designs AUD $2,600
- Teachers computer desk AUD $230
- Miscellanies Class Supplies AUD $1,420
                                                                                                          COST AUD $10,250.00

2. Building and furbishing Library.

This Library will be build at the Community School on land purchased by the organisation. The layout of this building was all put together using input from both the teachers as well as that of the children.

- Table and chairs plus a sofa  AUD $1,200
- Bench AUD $250

                                                                                                          COST AUD $14,500.00

3. Purchasing 5 new Laptops.

To enable more children access to the computer classes there is a great need to purchase 5 new laptops for the community school.
These laptops are required so they can increase the number of students in the class. There are two classes held daily and to each computer there are usually 4 children.
The cost required to purchase 5 new laptops is AUD $2,500

                                                                                                             COST AUD $2,500.00

These children are so much willing to study and learn.
All they need is a chance to be given that opportunity.

100% of the money raised in this initiative will go the implementation of these three very important projects.

Please help us to provide a learning platform for this needy community.
If only you could see their faces as we did.

We are aiming to return to Siem Reap in February of 2020 to hopefully commence the Library building with your help.

Thank you in advance for your generous donations,

                                                                                                      Paul and Jacek
