THE FUTURE OF FILM IN ARIZONA

$90,000!! That's $30K a year for three years. We're one year into our campaign and, thanks to all of our many donors and some negotiation with our lobbyist, we were able to meet most of our first year's objective. Most importantly, we were able to cover the cost of lobbying the legislators at the AZ Capitol and putting our industry on the legislative map.
We're in year 2 now and we must raise much more than we raised last year. Since we fell short of last year's goal by a full 50%, we only were able to accomplish half of what we wanted to. This year, we urgently need $20K-$30K minimum just to make sure that the industry's interests are represented. Each year brings new faces to the Senate and the House. In many respects, we are starting from square one at the start of each new Legislature. The education process is continuous. If we don't do it, no one else will.
If you are passionate about the future of the film industry in Arizona, we urgently need your support right now. Bringing films and TV series to Arizona is tough. Other states and countries offer all kinds of incentives, grants, and closing funds to studios and film production companies. Arizona offers zero incentives to studios and production companies.

Why do we want film and media production here? While they’re in production, films, videos and commercials provide jobs and spend millions of dollars at local businesses. While they’re in distribution, they provide publicity – a level of publicity that we can’t afford to buy.
Together we are raising $30,000 each year for the next three years to pay the expenses needed to pass a package of programs and future looking incentives that are designed to grow our industry here in Arizona. Our donations will go to cover the costs of events promoting the benefits of the film and media industry to state decision-makers and to pay a lobbyist to consistently advocate for our industry down at the capital. This is an investment in our industry, and it is how we can get this done.
AFMC is a non-profit organization of volunteer board members who are leaders in the Arizona film industry. Our sole purpose is to organize and grow the industry in our state. We are convinced that we can do this via a legislative strategy that will be successful if:
• We are clear about our objectives
• We speak as one unified voice
• We build the industry from the inside out by launching “A FILM AND MEDIA SMALL BUSINESS JOBS PROGRAM BILL”
• We work with lobbyists to move our bill through the Senate, House and to the Governor’s Desk…
