As most of you know, I've wanted to be a doctor since I was 5 years old because of my father who died of ALS. My mother also lives with MS to this day, which profoundly contributes to my motivation to work with autoimmune disease. It wasn't until my early twenties, though, that I realized western medicine isn't the model of healthcare that truly speaks to me. So, I spent six years working a desk job and exploring other avenues, such as nutrition, acupuncture, functional medicine, and primarily chiropractic. What I learned to love about chiropractic is that it is so versatile, and every doctor has a different style of practice. As a D.C. I will be able to incorporate any and all of the above therapies, in addition to offering much needed adjustments for physical and neurological health.
Chiropractic has made a huge difference to me in my overall health, and I have seen through shadowing that it can drastically improve chronic conditions and give people their LIVES back. That is exactly why I'm passionate about joining this field, and I'm so happy to have found a profession that will allow me to serve others.
Now I am hoping to recruit some support from loved ones to make this dream a reality. I am enrolled at LIFE University starting in April for a 3.5 year program, but am struggling with financial aid for housing costs. Financial aid will cover tuition and fees, but does not provide any living expenses, and it will be impossible for me to work during this rigorous program. (Think of it like medical school without all of the pharmaceutical training - it's going to be more than a full time job in and of itself!) The campus provides very convenient, furnished and shared apartments for $712/month per person, which is where I am hoping to live with your support. For the entire 42 month program, living on campus will cost $29,904. Covering this cost makes a huge difference to me, facilitating not only my learning during school but thus my future success as a practitioner.
Asking for help in this way is difficult, but I hope you understand how grateful I would be for your financial support, and that no large sum is necessary. Every small donation would truly make a difference for me. Not to mention, in four years you can count on free adjustments for life from a close friend and kickass chiropractor!
