Futbol for Lamu, Kenya

Donation protected
Hello and thank you for learning about our service project to support soccer on Lamu Island in Kenya! We are two student athletes who believe that with a little effort and a lot of heart, it's possible to make a meaningful impact in our world.

Peter and Stuart grew up as neighbors in California. A few years ago, Stuart moved to Kenya, but the two friends have remained in contact and are working together to spearhead a soccer tournament for Kenyan youth. This will be the first tournament of its kind in Lamu.  Youth helping youth through the support of their community and the love of sport!

Initial games for the The Lamu-Lunada Cup are going on now! (Lamu is an archipelago, 340 kilometers northeast of Mombasa, Kenya. Lunada Bay is the California coastal town, southwest of Los Angeles, where Peter and Stuart met as young kids.) Funds raised will go towards paying for the soccer field, balls, referees, water and prizes. Four teams have already been formed and are practicing to win this inaugural tournament. The Championship will take place in December.

Thank you for your consideration and we are grateful for a donation of any amount! Any unused funds will go towards growing this tournament in years to come.

Also, for South Bay donors who contribute more than $20, we would like to give you a home-grown Mona Lavender plant. This shade-loving plant is native to the African continent and features rich leaves with beautiful lavender blossoms. Let it be a reminder that beautiful things can grow when we all work together!

Thank you,
Peter and Stuart
