New furnace for Ms. Margarite Allen
Donation protected
Annapolis Deputy Chief Simmons in the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has been notified of an elderly lady living in Eastport that has not had heat for two years. Her furnace needs replacing and she cannot afford a new furnace ($3-$5k). She has been using a portable electric heater to heat her house.
Chief Simmons sent a Fire Investigator to the residence of the hearing impaired 86 year old to evaluate the furnace.
Investigator Kenny White confirmed that the furnace was outdated and is in need of extensive repairs or replacement and he installed (1) carbon monoxide detector and (1) smoke alarm. Attached are two photos of the furnace that were taken earlier today.
Ms. Allen's information has also been added to OEM's Special Assistance Roster. This will allow OEM the ability to check on her welfare before, during and after an emergency/crisis/disaster event. She has an emergency point of contact on her street that may be able to check in or assist as well.
Funds will be used to buy and install a new furnace. The winter is just beginning and it will be cold soon.....please help.
