<div>More specifically, we are raising funds for a suitable vehicle that can accommodate his future wheelchair. The size and weight of the joystick-controlled wheelchair significantly limit the available options. A compact van, such as a VW Caddy, does not provide sufficient height. Therefore, the family will likely need around <strong>€60,000</strong> (with €20,000 of that amount required solely for the installation of a suitable lift).

<div>Misha is the son of Natalia and Anatoly. At the age of three, he was diagnosed with <strong>Duchenne muscular dystrophy</strong>.

<div>Eight years ago, the family—together with Misha’s sister Masha and his brother Sascha—moved from Moscow to Dortmund. They left behind their previous lives and careers to provide Misha with the best possible medical care and as normal a childhood as possible.
</div>

</div>
<div>Here in Germany, Misha has been able to attend a regular primary school, make friends, and be part of a community—something that would not have been possible for him in Russia, where inclusion for people with disabilities is still very limited.
</div>

</div>
<div>Misha now relies on a wheelchair. As a result, everyday life for the family has become significantly more challenging. Currently, Anatoly has to lift Misha out of the wheelchair and into the car. He can still manage this—but only with great effort. For Natalia, this is no longer possible due to Misha’s weight. In addition, there is a considerable risk of injury, as falls can occur at any time during transfers.

<div>Another challenge is that Misha will soon receive a new wheelchair. It will be a powered wheelchair with joystick control, as it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to move the wheels manually. The new wheelchair weighs around 200 kilograms and will no longer fit into the family’s current VW Sharan. At the same time, transferring Misha is becoming increasingly dangerous. In the future, he will need to remain seated in his wheelchair while being transported in the vehicle.

<div>The ideal solution would be a vehicle equipped with a lift that can safely transport Misha together with his wheelchair into the car. Unfortunately, such a purchase far exceeds the family’s financial means. At the same time, they need a vehicle that can accommodate the entire family.

<div>Because in the end, the most valuable thing is time. Time they want to spend together. Time to create meaningful experiences for Misha—visiting friends in Amsterdam or taking trips to the seaside in the Netherlands.

<div>Misha now attends a special education school. Since Natalia and Anatoly have both returned to work—which for a long time seemed almost impossible—the family now faces additional logistical challenges. The children need to be picked up from different schools at different times or taken to activities such as dance or football. Often, only one parent can manage this—making a spacious vehicle all the more essential.

<div>The required vehicle must therefore accommodate the wheelchair (including a lift) as well as at least four additional seats. Realistically, only a suitably equipped van meets these requirements.

<div>This is what we are raising funds for—so that the family can make the most of the time they have together.

<div>The family is strong. But sometimes even the greatest strength is not enough, and support is needed—from friends, acquaintances, or simply from people who want to help.
</div>

<div>We are also grateful for any tips or contacts with dealers offering suitable vehicles with lifts, or private individuals selling such a vehicle.

<div>Genauer gesagt für ein geeignetes Fahrzeug, das für seinen zukünftigen Rollstuhl in Frage kommt. Die Größe und das Gewicht des Rollstuhls mit Joystick grenzen dabei die Auswahl stark ein. Ein Kleintransporter, wie z.B. ein VW Caddy, ist von der Höhe nicht ausreichend. Deshalb benötigt die Familie vorraussichtlich ca. <strong>60.000</strong> Euro (20.000 Euro davon alleine für den Einbau eines geeigneten Lifts).

<div>Hier in Deutschland konnte Misha eine reguläre Grundschule besuchen, Freundschaften schließen und Teil einer Gemeinschaft sein – etwas, das ihm in Russland so nicht möglich gewesen wäre, da die Integration von Menschen mit Einschränkungen dort kaum stattfindet.

<div>Inzwischen ist Misha auf einen Rollstuhl angewiesen. Der Alltag der Familie ist dadurch deutlich herausfordernder geworden. Aktuell muss Anatoly Misha aus dem Rollstuhl heben und ins Auto setzen. Noch gelingt ihm das so gerade – aber nur mit großer Anstrengung. Für Natalia ist es aufgrund von Mishas Gewicht bereits nicht mehr möglich. Zudem besteht ein erhebliches Verletzungsrisiko, da es beim Umsetzen jederzeit zu Stürzen kommen kann.

<div>Hinzu kommt, dass Misha in Kürze einen neuen Rollstuhl erhalten wird. Es handelt sich um einen elektrischen Rollstuhl mit Joystick-Steuerung, da es für ihn mit der Zeit immer schwieriger wird, die Räder mit den Händen zu bewegen. Der neue Rollstuhl wiegt rund 200 Kilogramm und passt nicht mehr in den aktuellen VW Sharan der Familie. Gleichzeitig werden die notwendigen Umsetzungen für Misha zunehmend gefährlicher. Deshalb wird er künftig im Fahrzeug in seinem Rollstuhl sitzen und transportiert werden müssen.

<div>Die ideale Lösung wäre ein Fahrzeug mit einem Lift, der Misha gemeinsam mit seinem Rollstuhl sicher ins Auto befördert. Leider übersteigt eine solche Anschaffung die finanziellen Möglichkeiten der Familie deutlich. Gleichzeitig benötigen sie ein Fahrzeug, in dem die gesamte Familie Platz findet.

<div>Denn das Wertvollste, was bleibt, ist Zeit. Zeit, die sie gemeinsam verbringen möchten. Zeit, um Misha schöne Erlebnisse zu ermöglichen – Besuche bei Freunden in Amsterdam oder Ausflüge ans Meer in Holland.

<div>Misha besucht inzwischen eine Förderschule. Da Natalia und Anatoly mittlerweile wieder arbeiten – was lange Zeit kaum vorstellbar war – stellt der Alltag die Familie vor zusätzliche logistische Herausforderungen. Die Kinder müssen zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten von verschiedenen Schulen abgeholt oder zu Aktivitäten wie Tanzen oder Fußball gebracht werden. Oft kann das nur ein Elternteil übernehmen – entsprechend wichtig ist ein Fahrzeug mit ausreichend Platz für alle.

<div>Das benötigte Fahrzeug muss daher Platz für den Rollstuhl (inklusive Lift) sowie mindestens vier weitere Sitzplätze bieten. Realistisch kommt hierfür nur ein entsprechend ausgestatteter Kleintransporter infrage.

<div>Dafür möchten wir sammeln – damit die Familie die Zeit, die ihnen bleibt, so gut und intensiv wie möglich gemeinsam nutzen kann.
</div>

<div>Die Familie ist stark. Doch manchmal reicht selbst die größte Stärke nicht aus, und man ist auf Unterstützung angewiesen – von Freunden, Bekannten oder auch von Menschen, die einfach helfen möchten.
</div>
