<div>Unser bester Freund Johannes ist erst 40 Jahre alt. Und doch verbringt er seine Tage inzwischen im Bett – schwer krank, voller Schmerzen und abhängig von permanenter Pflege.

<div>Seit vielen Jahren kämpft er gegen ME/CFS – eine grausame Krankheit, die Menschen nicht nur ihre Energie nimmt, sondern oft ihr gesamtes Leben. Eine Krankheit, die Betroffene unsichtbar macht. Die isoliert. Die Träume zerstört. Die Menschen lebendig begräbt, während die Welt weiterläuft.

<div>Wer Johannes kennt, weiß: Kein Mensch hätte dieses Schicksal weniger verdient.
</div>
<div>Schon als Kind war er voller Mitgefühl für alles Lebendige. Während andere spielten, kümmerte Johannes sich um Tiere, die Hilfe brauchten. In seinem Kinderzimmer lebte eine große Ameisenkolonie, die er mit staunender Geduld beobachtete und versorgte. Ein kleines Hängebauchschwein zog er mit der Flasche groß. Er hatte schon immer dieses riesige Herz, das niemanden zurücklassen konnte.

<div>Später wurde er Psychologe. Nicht wegen der Karriere oder des Geldes. Sondern weil er Menschen helfen wollte. Weil er zuhören konnte wie kaum ein anderer. Weil er Trost gespendet, Hoffnung gegeben hat und immer für andere da war – selbst dann, als es ihm selbst längst schlecht ging.

<div>Heute ist von diesem aktiven Leben kaum noch etwas übrig.
</div>
<div>Die Krankheit hat ihm nach und nach alles genommen: seine Kraft, seine Freiheit, seinen Beruf, seinen Alltag, seine Selbstständigkeit.
</div>
<div>Und trotzdem kämpft Johannes jeden einzelnen Tag weiter.
</div>
<div>Weil die Krankenkassen viele notwendige Behandlungen nicht oder nicht ausreichend finanzieren, ist seine Familie gezwungen, nach privaten medizinischen Möglichkeiten und spezialisierten Ärzt:innen zu suchen. Das nächste große Ziel ist es nun, Johannes so weit zu stabilisieren, dass unter anderem eine Blutwäsche möglich wird – eine von wenigen hoffnungsvollen Chancen, die vielleicht neue Perspektiven eröffnen können.

<div>Doch diese Hoffnung kostet Geld – sehr viel Geld. Geld, das nach Jahren voller Krankheit, Arbeitsunfähigkeit und täglichem Überleben schlicht nicht mehr vorhanden ist.
</div>
<div>Auch Johannes’ Ehemann Benjamin, der seit 16 Jahren an seiner Seite steht, wird in den kommenden Monaten alle Projekte absagen müssen, um die Pflege zu übernehmen. Benjamin arbeitet als freischaffender Künstler und Therapeut und pflegt Johannes bereits jetzt liebevoll und voller Hingabe – Tag für Tag, oft bis an die Grenzen der eigenen Kraft. Doch jetzt zählt für ihn vor allem eines: für seinen Mann da zu sein und ihn durch diesen schweren Kampf zu begleiten.

<div>Deshalb bitten wir euch heute um Hilfe.

<div>Nicht für Luxus. Nicht für irgendeinen Traum.

<div>Sondern für die Chance auf Leben.

<div>Für die Chance, dass Johannes vielleicht eines Tages wieder reisen kann. Dass er wieder draußen sitzen und die Sonne spüren kann. Dass er lachen kann, ohne danach tagelang zusammenzubrechen. Dass er mit seinen Nichten und Neffen spielen und sie aufwachsen sehen darf. Dass er wieder am Lagerfeuer sitzen kann. Dass er seine Ehe und seine Liebe wieder leben und feiern darf. Dass er vielleicht irgendwann wieder anderen Menschen helfen kann – so wie er es sein ganzes Leben lang getan hat.

<div>Wir wissen nicht, wie viel Zeit bleibt. Aber wir wissen, dass niemand diesen Kampf alleine kämpfen sollte.
</div>

Darüber hinaus soll die Spendenaktion helfen, die Sichtbarkeit für diese fürchterliche Krankheit zu erhöhen und die Forschung voranzubringen.

<div>Our best friend Johannes is only 40 years old. And yet today he spends his days in bed — seriously ill, in constant pain, and dependent on continuous care.
</div>
<div>For many years, he has been fighting ME/CFS — a cruel disease that not only robs people of their energy, but often of their entire lives. A disease that makes sufferers invisible. That isolates. That destroys dreams. That buries people alive while the world keeps moving on.
</div>
<div>Anyone who knows Johannes knows: no one deserved this fate less.
</div>
<div>Even as a child, he was full of compassion for every living being. While others were playing, Johannes cared for animals that needed help. In his bedroom, he kept a large ant colony, which he observed and cared for with endless patience and wonder. He bottle-raised a little pot-bellied pig. He always had this enormous heart that could never leave anyone behind.
</div>
<div>Later, he became a psychologist. Not for status or money. But because he wanted to help people. Because he could listen like almost no one else. Because he gave comfort, inspired hope, and was always there for others — even when he himself had long been suffering.
</div>
<div>Today, almost nothing remains of that active life.
</div>
<div>Little by little, the illness has taken everything from him: his strength, his freedom, his profession, his daily life, and his independence.
</div>
<div>And still, Johannes keeps fighting every single day.
</div>
<div>Because health insurance providers do not cover many necessary treatments — or not sufficiently — his family has been forced to seek private medical options and specialized doctors. The next major goal is now to stabilize Johannes enough to make treatments such as blood filtration therapy possible — one of the few hopeful options that may open new perspectives for him.
</div>
<div>But hope comes at a price — a very high price. And after years of illness, inability to work, and simply surviving day by day, those financial resources are no longer there.
</div>
<div>Johannes’ husband Benjamin, who has stood by his side for 16 years, will also have to cancel all professional projects in the coming months in order to take over his care full-time. Benjamin works as a freelance artist and therapist and is already caring for Johannes lovingly and devotedly every single day — often to the limits of his own strength. But right now, only one thing matters to him: being there for his husband and supporting him through this difficult fight.

<div>That is why we are asking for your help today.

That perhaps one day he may once again help other people — just as he has done his entire life.
