Memorial/Medical fund for Maria "Tere" Jorge

Dearest friends and family,

It is with a heavy heart that I have created this campaign to share with you all. We have had numerous messages from people asking how they can help. Medical and funeral costs will be expensive.

For those who have yet to hear the news, my mother passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2019 at the age of 62 with loved ones at her side.

Over the course of 3 months her condition had declined significantly due to her inability to eat or drink. Causing her to suffer severe malnutrition and dehydration related to her nausea and vomiting.  After countless diagnostic testing, imaging, ER visits, and hospitalizations with no answers frustrations grew as she continued to decline.

On November 4th, 2019 she was admitted into Wesley Medical Center where we she was diagnosed with stage 3 adenocarcinoma. She received her first chemotherapy treatment during her stay. Hopeful that we could take her home and start a long road to recovery.

Unfortunately, her body did not respond well to the treatment. A week after chemotherapy her defenses dropped to a dangerously low level and she became critically ill. Due to her rapidly declining status she was placed on a ventilator, and several life-sustaining medications.

My mother was on life support for days with a poor prognosis of less than 6 months. At this point, we were faced with an extremely difficult decision. Given the condition she was in there was only one viable option. As a family we decided to move into hospice care and focused on solely keeping her comfortable.

No matter how ill she was, her faith never faulted. My mother remained positive. I will always admire the tremendous fearlessness that she held. Until the very end, she was filled with a joyful spirit, and a bottomless well of love for her family and friends. She displayed such courage, grace, and strength.

Any financial contribution that you can make is greatly appreciated as it will be a huge help and go a long way for my family during this difficult time. I hope that you may find it in your hearts to support my family through this as we deal with overwhelming grief.  My hope is to reduce the burden especially during this holiday season, so that we may focus on healing and honoring her legacy.

Con gran pesar he creado esta campaña para compartirla con todos ustedes. Hemos recibido numerosos mensajes de personas preguntando cómo pueden ayudar. Los costos médicos y funerarios serán caros.

Para aquellos que aún no han escuchado las noticias, mi madre falleció pacíficamente el 25 de noviembre de 2019 a la edad de 62 años con seres queridos a su lado.

En el transcurso de 3 meses, su condición había disminuido significativamente debido a su incapacidad para comer o beber. Causarla sufrir desnutrición severa y deshidratación relacionada con sus náuseas y vómitos. Después de innumerables pruebas de diagnóstico, imágenes, visitas a urgencias y hospitalizaciones sin respuestas, las frustraciones aumentaron a medida que ella continuó disminuyendo.

El 4 de noviembre de 2019 fue ingresada en el Wesley Medical Center, donde nos diagnosticaron adenocarcinoma en etapa 3. Recibió su primer tratamiento de quimioterapia durante su estadía. Espero que podamos llevarla a casa y comenzar un largo camino hacia la recuperación.

Desafortunadamente, su cuerpo no respondió bien al tratamiento. Una semana después de la quimioterapia, sus defensas cayeron a un nivel peligrosamente bajo y enfermó gravemente. Debido a su estado rápidamente en declive, la colocaron en un ventilador y varios medicamentos para mantener la vida.

Mi madre estuvo con soporte vital durante días con un mal pronóstico de menos de 6 meses. En este punto, nos enfrentamos con una decisión extremadamente difícil. Dada la condición en que se encontraba, solo había una opción viable. Como familia, decidimos mudarnos a cuidados paliativos y nos enfocamos únicamente en mantenerla cómoda.

No importa cuán enferma estuviera, su fe nunca fallaba. Mi madre se mantuvo positiva. Siempre admiraré la tremenda valentía que ella tenía. Hasta el final, estaba llena de un espíritu alegre y un pozo de amor sin fondo para su familia y amigos. Ella mostró tal coraje, gracia y fuerza.

Cualquier contribución financiera que pueda hacer es muy apreciada, ya que será de gran ayuda y será de gran ayuda para mi familia durante este momento difícil. Espero que encuentres en tus corazones apoyar a mi familia a través de esto mientras lidiamos con un dolor abrumador. Mi esperanza es reducir la carga, especialmente durante esta temporada de vacaciones, para que podamos centrarnos en sanar y honrar su legado.
