I never thought I would have to write something like this. With the deepest grief in my heart I have to report. My sister Holly Prater lost her husband in a horrific car accident on the afternoon of July 21st . Michael was one of the best men you could ever hope to meet in your lifetime. Michael Prater was a gentle, loving, humble and kind man. These two shared 18 years of a marriage that would make most envious. The oceans can not compare to the depth of love they had for each other. Our Lord called him home leaving behind a wife, son, daughter, and many other loving family members.
Michael and Holly did not have life insurance, and struggled through a humble life with their finances. Michael worked a full time job and was the sole bread winner. Holly did and is still trying to maintain her part time job and is a stay at home mother of two children. She also cares full time for our elderly Aunt that has been battling severe health issues as well. Holly and Michael both would and have literally given the shirt off of their backs to help others. They believe in the "pay it forward" motto to its fullest. I have seen them give their last dollar on multiple occasions to bless people when they were down and out and in need.
Death is never scheduled. Death is never kind. Especially when it is a tragic as his was at the age of 38. Completely unplanned. Completely unkind. And financially unprepared for such an event.
My sister only wants her husbands humble last wishes to be fulfilled. The cost of a no service viewing and cremation will cost $5300. This amount also includes funds for caring for their children, medications, utilities, and other minor expenses while she searches for full time employment. I can only ask that you look into your hearts and ask our Lord to guide your gift amount. Any amount will help and be forever appreciated. Please help me help my sister lay her husband to his final rest.
