Fundraising for My Father's Funeral

Donation protected
Today, January 7th, 2018, a person that meant the world to us, our father, Pedro Martinez, has passed. Through the many years that we loved him, we also endured him, rooted for him, and loved him unconditionally. Through all the hardships and obstacles that came our way, he and our mother were the foundation that kept us together. Bend without breaking, resiliency, is what our foundation is made of because that’s what are parents instilled. When your world is crumbling, push forward and make the best of it. Crumbling is what this feels like, but also happiness that our father will get to see his parents and siblings that are no longer with us.

Our father was the second eldest of twelve kids. When his father passed at a young age, he no longer had a chance to be a kid, he went out into the world to help support his siblings that he loved so much. When he met our mother in grade school, he knew he met someone special. A few years later in high school, our father and mother began the relationship that spanned 6 children, 19 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

Growing up as his children, we didn’t always have everything we wanted or sometimes needed. At times, he was a difficult person that allowed his vices to get the better of him, but in our heart of hearts, we knew that our father was doing the best he could every day and that he loved us. For many years our father worked tirelessly with the only reward being that he supported his children the best he knew how and that they loved him through it all. When retirement became an option, he was ready to rest and enjoy the family that grew, the family that loved him as father, grandfather, great grandfather.

For a few months in 2017, our father lost his eyesight and even when his world turned dim, he pushed forward for his family. He stayed strong and optimistic to keep us from worrying. When the opportunity to restore eyesight in one eye presented itself, he was ready. With his vision partially restored, he was happy and worked towards restoring himself and his world. A few days before Christmas, he was able to have his second eye worked on. With his vision almost fully restored, he was ecstatic to enjoy Christmas once more with his family and his loved ones. On December 24th, Christmas Eve, as he was preparing to enter our brother’s car, that would take him to the family Christmas party, he uttered his last words, “Son, I don’t think I’m going to make it” and with that, his eyes closed. From that day until his final day, our family remained at his bedside, crying tears of sadness and joy. In our families’ eyes, the joy, love, and happiness that he felt for his family were just too much for his heart.

We love you precious father and know you are smiling down on us. We know you will watch over us as we mourn you, celebrate you, and live with you in our hearts. Rest in Paradise.

Please assist us in ensuring that our father is properly laid to rest. Thank you in advance.
