Dr. Arega Negero's Funeral Support

Dr. Arega Negero, a former leader of the Oromo Community Organization of Washington DC (OCO) passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018. Dr. Arega was a strong advocate of the Oromo cause, and served in different capacities in the leadership of the Oromo Community including as a board member from 1992-1995 and 1998- 2004. When the community was at its infancy, Dr. Arega made his work place facilities available for most of the Oromo related activities including annual meetings of the Oromo Studies Association. He was one of the key individual who were pivotal in taking the initiative to buy/build the Oromo community center in Washington, DC and contributed to the Oromo housing fund generously. Dr. Arega was member of the Oromo Study Association and contributed to the development of the association and building Oromumaa.

Dr. Arega passed away after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife and three children.  His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of the members of the Oromo Community and everyone he interacted with including those he reached but never met.
