Funeral Expenses For Tyrell Headen

Donation protected
Tyrell D’Andre Headen left this earth at the age of 19, on Friday, May 10, 2019. He would have been 20 years old on July 27. In addition to many family members and close friends, he leaves behind a son, Julian “Juju” Headen with his girlfriend, Kaylee and they are expecting another child in November 2019. Everyone loved Tyrell; he became part of everybody’s family when they met him. Several of his friend’s families pretty much adopted him over the years. You would never see Tyrell alone; his friends meant everything to him and he would do anything for anybody.
He was always extremely good at sports, especially basketball and baseball and planned to play ball through high school and college and become an architect. Knee injuries interrupted his ability to play in school and in addition to other life changes and disappointments, he lost his way. He was humble, loyal, kind, loving, funny, respectful, intelligent, fun, happy, charming; he was a gentleman. But Tyrell wasn’t perfect. He made many mistakes and bad choices, yet he continued to give everything he had to those around him and never left anybody without telling them he loved them. He loved life and lived like there was no tomorrow; always on the go, never slowing down.
I will never know the things he struggled with and what he carried in his heart but I know his heart was good. He always tried to help everybody yet would not accept the help he needed. Now he is gone. As many people that showed up to wait with him until his last breath, you need to remember how it felt to watch my son die. He is gone because of choices he made to cope with things he could not deal with on his own. He is not a bad person; he made bad choices but anyone that knows him knows his heart and soul was filled with nothing but love and good intentions.
We have lost too many lives in our community, my son being one of them. No one wants their loved one to be remembered in this light; no mother wants their child to have this as their legacy. I don’t want my son’s death to be in vain. If this will convince one person to not sell something that can kill somebody else, to not take something that can kill you; don’t play with your life. If there is something in your life you need help fixing; let someone help you fix it. I am not going to lie; the system can be hard to navigate as far as resources and support but it can be done and anything to prevent another mother from spending Mother’s Day planning her child’s funeral is worth it.
