Funeral Expenses for My Brother Rob

Donation protected
Hey everyone,

My name is Chelsea Martin, I have created a GoFundMe account on behalf of my older brother, Robert K. Martin.

On February 13th, 2018 at 5:00pm, my brother tragically passed away.  He was 29 years old.

Your donations will only be used for things directly related to funeral expenses. Any additional funds will be set aside in a college account for Taylor Grace Martin, Robbie's eight year old daughter.

For those of you from my facebook, you may have already seen the following paragraphs. I just don't have it in me, at this time, to rewrite another emotional message:

Last night, at 5pm, I had to say goodbye to my brother. He died due to an overdose. As many of you who know me, my parents, and Robbie know that he has struggled for many years now with drug addiction. What most of you don't know is the amount of effort he put forth this last year to combat the demons that plague your heart, body, mind and soul due to drug addiction. He entered into a program in Athens a little over a year ago, and during that time he tried desperately to stay clean. I was fortunate enough to see my brother this past year for the man he was meant to be, drug free. I had forgotten how much I had missed my brother, until the first time I looked into his eyes and realized that he was the one looking back at me, not the drug-induced version of himself. Words cannot express how thankful I am for this last year.

For the last month, Robbie began struggling with depression and he relapsed. He paid with his life this time. My family, and his wife, were able to be there with him during his final hours. We were able to touch him as he took his final breath. We were able to pray with him, hold him, and cry over him.
Robbie spent the last year reviving his faith in God. He attended church regularly and created a family there. We will be having the funeral/viewing at 9 am, Saturday in Athens. We will be doing the burial at 2:00 pm in Tallulah Falls.

Oh Robbie Martin, I will miss you dearly, every day. I hope you know how much you are loved. Know that it's okay, that we will be okay, and that I am so happy your soul is without any pain. You touched so many lives in the last year, and I truly believe this tragedy will have positive effects on your brothers who are also struggling with addictions. I know how much you tried: mom and dad know, Marybeth knows, your brothers and your counselors know, your church family knows. You will be blown away by the amount of support you are going to receive on Saturday to send your soul to heaven.
I will miss you SO much! And one day we will see each other again. I love you

Robbie left behind his daughter, Taylor Grace Martin. She is eight years old. While your donations will only be used for things directly related to funeral expenses, any additional funds raised will be set aside in a college account for Taylor.

Robbie was a newlywed and his wife Marybeth Martin, is devastated by this situation.  Please keep all of his family in your prayers, including Taylor's mom, Ashley VanValkenburg, as well as the rest of our extended family.

I hope that this campaign reaches far and wide, as my family is in need of love from the community of Clayton, Georgia.

Thank you to everyone that takes the time to read, share, and donate.

From the bottom of my heart,
-Chelsea Martin
